Hi... my name is Jim

Since most of you reading this don't know me, I thought it would be wise to introduce myself and all my quirkiness. So here goes nothing...

My name is James Thomas Davis, but I generally go by Jim or Jimbo, although over the last several months I have been called Jimmer on a few occasions. I am the oldest of 3 boys. My dad Jim is a geography professor at BYU and my mom Debbi is a registered labor and delivery nurse (Which means I have known way too much about certain things, for way too long). My favorite color is blue, favorite ice cream is cookie dough, and I love stupid comedies. I am very analytical, remember all sorts of random trivia, earned my Eagle when I was 13, skipped second grade, have never lost to my little brother in one-on-one basketball, spent a two-year LDS mission in the West Indies (Barbados, Guyana and Trinidad), and am a complete and total nerd. I don't consider myself to be a person that has a million friends, but I truly value the friendships I do have.

I have an amazing 4 year old daughter named Ellie, who happens to be the smartest 4-year old in the world. Being the wonderful father that I am, I have dragged her all over this country in the car. I am being serious when I say we have probably logged over 15,000 miles together in planned roadtrips in the car over the last two years. However, we have been able to see tons of family and 50 LDS temples in our travels. She has been a constant source of strength to me and I don't know what I would do without her in my life.

I am a sports junkie, especially as it relates to BYU athletics, Manchester United, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Anaheim Angels (I refuse to call them the LA Angels of Anaheim). However I would rather play sports instead of watch them. Over the last couple of years I have really gotten into running and have completed several marathons and half-marathons. With the help of Micha, my love of camping and being in the outdoors has been rekindled! Before our pre-honeymoon, I had probably spent 5-6 nights camping in the last 15 years. Last week I spent 4 nights!

Another of my big passions is cooking, which is indirectly responsible for the big events that are coming up on July 9th. The love of good food and cooking together is one of the major things that brought Michelle and I together. Michelle can also attest that I am addicted to All Clad cookware as I have way too much of it.

I graduated from BYU way back in 2000, worked for Home Depot for 4 years, and then for Progressive Auto Insurance for 5 years, before being laid-off. When I was laid-off, which was pretty much the pinnacle of the hardest chapter of my life, I made the decision to go back to school. From August 2009-May 2011 I was a graduate student in the kinesiology department (aka physical education) at California State University, Fullerton. While there I learned that I love torturing people in the heat, by making them run in 100+ degree environments, all in the name of science. At the end of May I received my Masters degree in kinesiology, and will further my education this fall at the University of Oregon, where I plan on earning my doctorate degree in human physiology.

Finally, on December 27, 2010 I made contact with this amazing woman, four days later I met her in person, and a week after that had an official date with her. Now, in less than 4 weeks we will be married and spend the rest of forever together. How awesome is that?

Anyway, my life has been full of ups and downs, and I still can't believe the last 2-1/2 years. However, I survived, with the help of a small army of people, and am looking forward to the future. Ellie and I are extremely excited to join forces with Michelle and Aeryn and double the size of our family and have all sorts of adventures!
